The stunning 1948 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Touring Limousine by Hooper & Co. featured here is finished in the stunning color combination of Oxford Blue over Shell Grey with complimentary light blue leather interior and burl walnut throughout. This particular example was delivered to its first owner; a Mrs. M.H. Timpson of Gloucestershire, England in December 1948. Its elegant aluminum coachwork by Hooper & Co. represents one of only 69 Touring Limousines built in total, of which only 3 were finished in this specification. Today the Silver Wraith presents wonderfully, having previously been subjected to a thorough restoration that presents lovely today with the level of charm one would expect from a well maintained restoration. The Rolls-Royce even still wears its original registration of HDG 977 as recorded on the accompanying copies of the chassis build records. History of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith

The first large Rolls-Royce model produced after WWII, the Silver Wraith was introduced in 1946 and was only available as a bare chassis from the factory, allowing the purchaser to choose from one of several notable coachbuilders including Park Ward Ltd, H.J. Mulliner, James Young and Hooper & Co. Standard chassis length was a generous 127” wheelbase and the model was initially powered by a new F-head design 4.3 litre inline-6 cylinder engine. The Silver Wraith’s notion as the last mass-produced model available exclusively through a coachbuilder has garnished some to call the model the last true Rolls-Royce! Numerous body arrangements were available, suiting very various types of elite clientele; however the Touring Limousine by Hooper & Co, proved to be one of the most desired variants. Internally known as design 8034, only 69 examples were produced, each with elegant aluminum coachwork to save space. Some models featured a power division window and operable sunroof allowing for fresh air motoring for the chauffer and the passenger(s). Today the Silver Wraith remains one of great classic Rolls-Royce designs; its pre-war appearance with post-war innovation has made the model one of the most desirable to collectors today.
